Magnetic Interchangeable Sunglasses

The Client

A North American fashion apparel brand launching its first eyewear collection. They wanted a signature product that combined a fashion look with real sports performance.

The Challenge

• The design called for magnetic lenses and detachable temples, which are technically demanding to build.
• The magnets had to hold firmly during sport, but the original concept did not say how strong they should be.
• The brand needed to confirm the concept quickly to meet its launch date.

What We Did

• Delivered three versions of the 3D structure, showing how the magnetic parts sit inside the frame.
• Opened dedicated molds to fine-tune the magnet positions and temple hinge angles.
• Used lightweight TR90 frames and non-slip silicone nose pads, so the glasses stay secure despite the extra weight of the magnets.

Le résultat

Close communication at each stage kept the development time short. The finished sunglasses let wearers swap lenses easily and hold up well in regular use.
